Cindy Throop (she/her/hers) is a sociologist, structural social worker, and social and healthcare policy analyst specializing in understanding and addressing systemic social inequality and resulting inequities. As a board member at Wail of a Tale Productions, Cindy brings many years of experience successfully pursuing and administering grants and contracts, both for foundations and federal agencies.

Ms. Throop draws on more than 25 years of research and policy experience with a special focus on health information technology, health information exchange, privacy, and understanding within social, economic, and historical contexts.

Cindy has experience working with a range of federal clients, including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). In addition to federal contracting, she has also directed foundation-funded work with communities across the US to collect data to build local capacity to assess the impact of federal social welfare policy changes on low-income children and families.
